Human Connections
Simple pleasures
With Covid related restriction easing and people now being able to travel more I have been thinking about how we connect with each other. During the worst of the lockdowns people were only able to connect via telecommunication apps such as Zoom. I have been recently trying to catch up with people I have not seen in a long time and while chatting to one person via WhatsApp it made me consider how important the simple act of connecting with another human being is. We often hear from experts that humans are supposed to be very social animals and by definition don’t work well when they are alone for long periods of time. I think what I have learned from Covid is to cherish these human connections because we never know when they may be taken away from us. Sitting in a cafe chatting over a steaming cup of coffee or walking in a park with a friend sounds so simple and not exotic at all but it’s the simple things in life that mean the most, especially after Covid. So while many people are now looking to go overseas or travel throughout Australia don’t take for granted the simple act of connecting with another human being because Covid has shown us how quickly it can be taken away.
