Kid Stakes
For those of you who follow me on Facebook will know, because I flooded you all with photographs, that I have been directing a MMuDS production of Kid Stakes. Unfortunately due to Covid related setbacks creating casting issues the MMuDS Committee, with a great deal of reluctance and sadness, has decided to cancel Kid Stakes. As a long standing member of MMuDS I can safely state that I have not worked with a better group of people as I have with this cast. Kid Stakes started formal rehearsals in July 2021 and through a number of changes to performance dates the cast remained resolute and fitted the rest of their lives around this production. We all became close and the passion and commitment they showed with each and every rehearsal inspired this old MMuDS veteran. I also want to thank the production crew for their work and commitment to the production.
I have learned a lot from this journey, the most important being how lucky I was to be able to assemble such a great cast and I got to see what fine performers and even more importantly what fine people they are. Is this the end? The short answer is no. At a future date I hope to be able to put a new show proposal to the MMuDS Committee, for their consideration, so while it’s goodbye from this iteration of Kid Stakes I am already excited about what the future holds for this play and getting this wonderful and youthful cast back together again to finish what we started.
