I was out for a walk today I to the wetlands. There was not a lot of bird life around today but it was a lovely afternoon. Sadly while I was out I was keeping an eye out for any sick birds. Although the first bird flue outbreak in Victoria was down at Portland it won’t take long for it to reach up here and the wetlands could be the spot it first appears. So if you are out walking here even if you are not interested in bird life and you see a sick bird report it to the authorities. It would be a very sad place if we no longer heard the laugh of the Kookaburra or flash of blue created by the feisty Fairy Wren

was recently watching a video from The Backyard Naturalist on Koalas and I thought I would post a link to it here. I learned a lot about the disturbing history of how colonial Australia treated this not iconic Australian animal. I thought if this was news to me then it was possible news to you to. It is not a doom and gloom video but it shows what can be done to bring back an animal from the brink of extinction.. There is a positive narrative through the tragedy. Photography is for everybody.

I think next year I am going to work on a photographic Portfolio which will only be available to view from my website. I would also like to do a photographic essay, again only viewable from my website. I believe taking photographs for social media diminishes a thoughtful approach as well as having no real control of the quality of your images (compression) and the way they are displayed. Finally I want to be consistent with producing a photographic newsletter. I guess these are some really early new years resolutions but I want to regain my focus, no pun intended. Not rushing to take photos to be rushed onto social media but to have a more reflective and thoughtful approach and to slow down the entire process. Finally why have a website if you are only going to put everything on social media? it is really cannibalising your creativity.
