New Canon Lens

Today, the date of this post, my new Canon lens arrived. For those of you into photography it is the Canon 24-70mm F2.8 MkII L Series. In Canon circles this is often called one of the Holy Trinity of lenses. It look me a long time to decide to purchase this lens. I wanted to make sure I really needed it and that I was not just being seduced by the hype. It is also an expensive lens so I needed to take that into account. I decided to go ahead and purchase it because for me it will be my Swiss Army Knife of lenses and it will out live my camera body. Its fixed aperture of F2,8 means I have better control in low light and it will be versatile enough to take everything from portraits to landscape and everything in-between. With this and my super telephoto lens that should cover 99% of my photographic needs. 24-70mm is also a good sweet spot. My bird photography will always be my favourite genre but with this new lens I believe I can learn to be a better all round photographer. The lens itself won’t make me better I still need to work on my photographic skills and understanding of the art form. So I say to you don’t buy an expensive lens unless you firstly do your research and reflect on whether you really need it and second understand that the lens helps you but does not in itself make you a better photographer. When I have used it for some months I will write another post updating you on my experiences. If you would like anymore information or you have a question just comment below and I will do what I can to answer it.
